Jonathan Caouette made his debut feature Tarnation for a budget of around $200 using iMovie. Described as part documentary, part narrative fiction, part home movie, and part acid trip, it was the most talked about debut of its time and marked Jonathan out as one of the most exciting and original new voices in American independent filmmaking.

Thanks to the support of British Council Wales, Ffresh is proud to host the first ever retrospective of Jonathan’s work beginning with a screening of Tarnation and his recent fictional short film All Flowers in Time about a Dutch TV programme that possesses young viewers, which stars Chloë Sevigny and has been garnering praise from festivals around the world. Jonathan will be in attendance to introduce the screenings.

The Jonathan Caouette Retrospective is sponsored by British Council Wales.
